DISMANTLING RACISM TRAINING

The 2024 Dismantling Racism Training classes are closed. The 2025 schedule will be posted in early December. If you have any questions about the class, please email starver@episcopalatlanta.org.

Dismantling Racism training seeks to increase "racial understanding, healing and reconciliation." It is offered several times throughout the year and is required for all parish clergy and all lay leaders, including vestry members.  Trainings are offered by The Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing.

The training was adjusted in 2012 to "reflect the fruit of several conversations conducted by the Beloved Community: Commission for Dismantling Racism (now The Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing)," said Dr. Catherine Meeks, executive director of the Center "We re-framed the training in a way that makes the experience a part of the ongoing spiritual formation of the participants."

The Dismantling Racism Training is held online via Zoom from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT. There are breaks during the class and a lunch break. Each class is limited to 20 people. No more than six people from the same parish/group/organization can take the class on the same day. Classes are first come, first serve. The class you register for may be full although it does not show "Registration Closed" next to the date. Please try to register for another class.  
 

To participate in the online training, you will need access to video and audio capabilities on your computer or mobile device. To make the classes run more smoothly, Please check these capabilities are functioning on the day of your class. To respect other participants, please plan on being visible and with sound on for the duration of the class. If two people in the same home/building are taking the class on the same day, they must be on two separate devices in different rooms. Sorry but we cannot make exceptions.  We are working on developing in-person courses in the coming months, until then, all classes are via zoom.

Class registration is based on first-come, first-served.  Note the date you select may be full even if it appears open.  This reflects the dynamic nature of registrations.  Don't worry, you will be notified if the class you select is full.
