This two-pathway Christian formation curriculum helps children and youth connect their faith to racial healing and justice. Through age-appropriate sessions, Grades K–5 explore belovedness and the image of God in all people, while Grades 6–12 engage in honest conversations about race, allyship, and systemic change. Both pathways nurture relationships, spark action, and empower young people to live God’s dream for the world.

The Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing, in collaboration with the Office of Youth Ministries of the Diocese of Atlanta, has developed two transformative pathways to bring the work of racial healing to young people.

Living God’s Dream is a five-session, faith-filled curriculum for Grades K–5, helping children recognize the image of God in themselves and others through storytelling, play, and joyful engagement.

Dismantling Racism: A Youth Curriculum is a six-session program for Grades 6–12, offering deeper conversations around race, identity, privilege, and healing—rooted in faith and designed to empower youth to become agents of reconciliation and justice.

Together, these pathways equip churches, schools, and families to nurture a generation of spiritually grounded, justice-oriented leaders.

Grades K–5: Living God’s Dream – A Children’s Curriculum

This five-session, age-appropriate curriculum helps young children understand belovedness, practice empathy, and cultivate the habit of seeing the image of God in all people. Developed in conjunction with the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing and published by Church Publishing, it’s ideal for use in Sunday school, children’s chapel, or Vacation Bible School.

Grades 6–12: Dismantling Racism – A Youth Curriculum

This six-session curriculum supports youth in developing the spiritual and emotional tools to understand racism and become faithful agents of justice. Built around honest reflection, courageous conversation, and community-building, it is rooted in the Christian story and shaped in partnership with the Diocese of Atlanta’s Office of Youth Ministries.

The Dismantling Racism Youth Curriculum was written by Katie McRee and Sally Ulrey in collaboration with the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing and the Office of Youth Ministries in the Diocese of Atlanta.

So that we are doing this work well, with both intentionality and skillfulness, getting and using the curriculum requires two prerequisites of the leaders who intend to use it:

  1. that they attend a prerequisite anti-racism training (all Dioceses are supposed to offer this, but if you don’t have this type of training in your Diocese, one is available through the Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing. (Add link here to Dismantling Racism). If you’ve attended trainings with Sacred Ground or Kaleidescope that would also suffice. Refer questions to Sally Ulrey.  It is essential that those who come to the curriculum training have started on their personal, internal work of dismantling racism in a interactive cohort or accountability group type of setting.
  2. that they attend THIS online youth curriculum training on how to use the curriculum. Please be ready to provide the date and training information of your prerequisite anti-racism training during the registration process for the Youth Curriculum Training. This curriculum training consists of two parts: (a) completing the online pathway and (b) having a follow-up call with a trainer to make sure you have everything you need, and provide accountability for the training.
